Glory and Gore Music Video

For Media Production our project was to make a music video and my friend, Anne and I decided to create ours to the song "Glory and Gore" by Lorde. We did all of our filming at Westview Park, luckily the day right before it snowed! This was my first attempt at making a music video and I found it somewhat challenging, but rewarding at the same time. I practiced using a slow shutter speed to slow down the motion to create the blur effect. An example of this is with the moving train in the background, Anne stayed in focus, while the train was a blur. We woke up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise on the Saturday morning before it snowed, and continued filming throughout the day (after getting some Tim Hortons in our systems). I find I like to film most of my footage, if not all of it in one day therefore resulting in good continuity. This project took me a little longer than most of my other videos because of the attention I gave to detail, but I think it paid off. I feel doing this video was a good learning curve for me and I would appreciate any constructive criticism that people can offer to help me make my video better!

Capturing Events- Shrek the Musical

This December,  Sturgeon Heights Collegiate is putting on the musical Shrek. Today, I had the chance to go and take pictures during the casts first live show and they did a fantastic job. (I'm even going back again tomorrow night with some friends to watch it again!) The crew did such an awesome job singing, dancing and acting that I didn't want to stop watching. From the great cast to all the amazing sets and costumes, this years musical is a must see!

Capturing Events- Pros VS Joes (Tuesday)

Today at lunch I attended Pros VS Joes where the "Teacher Dream Team" battled against the Joes. (Ben McMahon, Will Switzer, Matt Johnsson, Mikey Hart and Kahlil Lakay) After yesterdays results, Mikey Hart is leading the pack, but a lot can change between now and Friday. This event is filled with various sports and challenges that the Joes face against different celebrities and professionals each day. Come out and show your school spirit at this exciting event held from Dec.2nd-6th. Remember that it's a toonie or two non-perishable items to get in, that our school will later be making Christmas hampers with. Let's go Huskies!

Dialogue and Non-Verbal Body Language

"Why isn't it lovely weather today!" Nigel began, as he gazed up at the sky, appreciating the settle sound of the birds chirping above him.

"Well I don't know about you, but I have seen many beautiful days in my lifetime." Ed joined, "I have travelled all over the world... Just ask me and I'm sure I can answer 'I've been there!"

"I bet you have seen many wonders in your life, the world is a beautiful place." Nigel responded, "But I have to ask you, how come out of all the places you've travelled, you chose to live here?"

"Well you see my friend," Ed started, as he rested his newspaper on his lap and shifted his body towards Nigel. "Do you think those places would remain as beautiful in my eyes if I stayed there for a great amount of time? The places I travel to remain extraordinary because I'm not exposed to them every single day."

Nigel looked up and around at the people and places that surrounded him. Everything began to seem so familiar, from the park across the street with the kids running around playing, to the little old woman working at the bakery.

"I see what you're saying," Nigel began, "You value a place more when it's new and you're fresh to the experience. If you overstayed your welcome you might begin to take the place for granted because the initial excitement would slowly fade." He continued. "I would sure love to travel though," added Nigel, slowly lowering his head. "I haven't been to many different places."

Ed's eyes opened wide.

"You have to be kidding me! Ed exclaimed, as he stood up in front of Nigel grasping his hands. "The world is too beautiful to miss out on!"

"I-" Nigel started, before being interrupted by Ed.

"You must come on a trip with me my friend! Where would you like to go?" Ed questioned. "The trip is on me!" He finished, grasping Nigel's hand, pulling him off the bench.

The two men began walking briskly down the street, excited to commence their voyage.

I'll have to go sit on park benches more often! Nigel thought to himself as they continued walking side by side into the distance.
